CALL TO WORSHIP

HYMN:  O Spirit All-Embracing

PRAYER

INTROIT:  Creator Spirit, Heavenly Dove by Michael Burkhardt

Creator Spirit, heavenly dove, descend upon us from above; with graces manifold restore your creatures as they were before.  To you, the Comforter, we cry; to you, the gift of God most high, true fount of life, the fire of love, the soul’s anointing from above.  In you, with graces sevenfold, we God’s almighty hand behold; while you with tongues of fire proclaim to all the world God’s holy name.  O make to us the Father known; teach us the eternal Son to own; and you, whose name we ever bless, of both the Spirit, to confess.  Praise God, the Father and the Son and Holy Spirit, with them one; and may the Son on us bestow the gifts that from the Sprit flow. [Rhabanus Maurus]

ANTHEM:  Come Down, O Love Divine by Roland E. Martin

Come down, O Love divine, seek thou this soul of mine, and visit it with thine own ardor glowing; O Comforter, draw near, within my heart appear; and kindle it, thy holy flame bestowing.  O, let it freely burn, till earthly passions turn to dust and ashes in its heat consuming; and let thy glorious light shine ever on my sight, and clothe me round, the while my path illuming.   Let holy charity mine outward vesture be, and lowliness become mine inner clothing; true lowliness of heart, which takes the humbler part, and over its own short-comings weeps with loathing.  And so the yearning strong, with which the soul will long, shall far out-pass the power of human telling; for none can guess its grace, till He become the place wherein the Holy Spirit makes His dwelling. [Bianco da Siena, trans. Richard Frederick Littledale, Jr.]
