PRELUDE:  Prelude on “Be Thou My Vision” by Fred Bock

WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP

HYMN:  All with Joyful Expectation [Yisrael V’Oraita]

PRAYER

INTROIT:  Thankful by Carol Boyer Sager, David Foster and Richard Page; Myles Mineer, bass

Some days we forget to look around us; some days we can’t see the joy that surrounds us.  So caught up inside ourselves, we take when we should give.  So for today, we pray for what we know can be.  And every day we hope for what we still can’t see.  It’s up to us to be the change, and even though we all can still do more, there’s so much to be thankful for.  Look beyond ourselves; there’s so much sorrow.  It’s way too late to say, “I’ll cry tomorrow.”  Each of us must find our truth, so long overdue.  Even with our differences, there is a place we’re all connected; each of us can find each other’s light.

PRAYER

SCRIPTURE LESSON:  Psalm 1

HYMN:  Happy Are the Saints of God (Psalm 1) [Wareham]

SERMON:  “The Choice”

ANTHEM:  Loving Shepherd of the Sheep by Michael Burkhardt; Desiree Flores, alto solo

[Orientis Partibus – Pierre de Corbeil and quoting “Sheep May Safely Gaze” – J.S. Bach]  Loving Shepherd of the sheep, keep your lambs, in safety keep; nothing can your power withstand, none can pluck us from your hand.  Loving Shepherd, ever-near, teach your lambs your voice to hear; suffer not our steps to stray from the straight and narrow way.  Where you lead us, we would go, walking in your steps below, till before your heavenly throne we shall know as we are known. [Jane E. Leeson]

PRAYER

HYMN:  Lord, Dismiss Us with Your Blessing [Sicilian Mariners]

BENEDICTION RESPONSE:  The First Psalm by Pepper Choplin

Blessed are the ones who will listen to words of wisdom, who follow in the way of the pure and join with the faithful.  For they delight in the Word of the Lord, and they meditate on it through the day and night.  Blessed are the ones who love the Lord. [Psalm 1:1-2]
