SOLO: The Day He Wore My Crown by Phil Johnson; Desiree Flores, alto
The city was Jerusalem; the time was long ago. The people called Him Jesus, the crime was the love He showed. And I’m the one to blame; I caused all the pain. He gave Himself the day He wore my crown. He brought me love that only He could give; and I brought Him cause to cry. And though He taught me how to live I taught Him how to die. He could have called His Holy Father and said, “Take me away, please take me away.” He could have said, “I’m not guilty, and I’m not gonna stay, I’m not gonna pay.” But He walked right through the gate; and then on up the hill. And, as He fell beneath the weight, He cried “Father not my will.” And I’m the one to blame; I caused all the pain. He gave Himself the day He wore my crown.

SECOND SCRIPTURE LESSON: John 19:16c-18
SOLO: Via Dolorosa by Billy Sprague and Niles Borop; Desiree Flores, alto
Down the Via Dolorosa, in Jerusalem that day, the soldiers tried to clear the narrow street; but the crowd pressed in to see, a man condemned to die on Calvary. He was bleeding from a beating, there were stripes upon His back, and He wore a crown of thorns upon His head; and He bore with every step the scorn of those who cried out for His death. Down the Via Dolorosa, called “The Way of Suffering,” like a lamb came the Messiah Christ, the King. But He chose to walk that road out of His love for you and me; down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary. The blood that would cleanse the hearts of all men made its way through the heart of Jerusalem. Down the Via Dolorosa, called “The Way of Suffering,” like a lamb came the Messiah Christ, the King. But He chose to walk that road out of His love for you and me; down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary.
