INTROIT: The Good Ground by Nancy Strang
I want to be the good ground where the Word of the Lord can grow! He spreads His word all over the world. To the north and south and the east and west. He spreads His word all over the world, so everyone can hear! He spreads His word all over the world to the hills and plains and the mountaintops. He spreads His word all over the world, so everyone can hear! He sows His seed all over the ground. On the hardened path and the rocky ground He sows His seed all over the ground, so everyone can grow! It cannot grow on the hardened path, on the hardened path it won’t survive. It cannot grow on the rocky ground ‘cause it grows up fast but then it dies. It cannot grow on the weedy ground, ‘cause the weeds grow up and choke it down. But the fertile ground, it’s the fertile ground where the Word of the Lord can grow!

ANTHEM: The Parable of the Sower by Michael Myrick
A sower went forth with precious seed, beside the wayside sowing, he hoped for a harvest rich indeed, would soon be growing. Sowing, scatter the seeds both here and there; sowing, surely will yield a harvest fair. And some fell upon the rocky bed, the tender roots up-springing, no root had they there and soon were dead, no fruit the Master bringing. But careless feet trod the good seeds there, till they were dying; to carry them off, birds of the air came quickly flying. And some among thorns, it came to pass, the sower too was sowing; the thorns springing up alas! Soon choked the good seed growing. But some fell upon good ground, we’re told, Oh, happy is this story; rich fruit they bear, a hundred-fold, unto the Master’s glory! [Eliza Edmunds Hewitt]

Scatter us, Lord, to serve you well. May we be bold to go, to tell. Outside these walls the people wait: some without hope, and some without faith. Fill us with patience, love and grace. Scatter us, Lord, beyond this place,
