People followed Jesus from the shores of Galilee, hoping He would heal the sick and help the blind to see. Numbering five thousand men, plus women, children, too, in a far, deserted place, He taught them what is true. Jesus gives us more than enough. Jesus provides us with more than enough. We may not see the how or when, the who, the what, the why, but in our time of greatest need, Jesus will provide. As the day grew later, His disciples came to say, “There is not enough to eat. Lord, send the crowds away. We have only two small fish and five small loaves of bread. Tell the multitude to go and feed themselves instead.” Jesus looked toward heaven, as He blessed the fish and bread. Breaking up the fish and loaves, the multitude was fed. In the end, twelve baskets full of fish and bread remained. Jesus did a miracle! His followers proclaimed: Jesus gives us more than enough. [Lynn Shaw Bailey and Becki Slagle Mayo]
