Beloved of God,

The core conviction of the Christian faith is that Jesus Christ died for our sake and that He, three days later, in a unique supernatural event in time-and-space history, physically rose from the grave, more alive than any of us reading this, alive like that for ever and ever.

If that conviction does not correspond to reality, then the Christian faith is neither true nor worthy of our commitment.

If that conviction does correspond to reality, that means that Jesus is right now alive – and knowable.  He is there for us as Someone with whom we can relate and converse…Someone who will, if we walk through our days in awareness of Him, rub off on us…Someone who will elevate our character, improve our conduct and empower our efforts to make a difference for good.

The middle of this month, the church with gratitude and hope celebrates Holy Week, those eight days that long ago culminated in the first Easter and to this day still change the prospects for the entirety of humanity.

The prospects for all of us are uplifted if we turn to this living, accessible Savior and avail of His grace and strength to live out His light and love.

This month – when seekers, sceptics and unchurched folks of all kinds are especially open and receptive to an invitation to come to church – let us make a special effort to reach out to those around us and to warmly welcome the newcomers who will be visiting our church.

During Holy Week, we will on April 13th remember Jesus’ Palm Sunday entrance into Jerusalem and His Passion at Golgotha; on the 18th at noon in the Sanctuary, reflect on His crucifixion and suffering for our salvation; and, on the 20th, at 8:00 a.m. in the Courtyard and at 9:57 a.m. in the Sanctuary (in two distinct, different services), rejoice in His resurrection and His presence with us today.

All the Sanctuary services will be livestreamed (and archived on the Covenant YouTube channel).

Let us give thanks that technology enables us to be all together in worship even when some of us cannot be there physically.  Yet, let those of us who can be present in the flesh strive to come to church every Sunday, for our attendance will help those joining virtually to see and hear on-line more members of our church family and help those joining physically to see more smiles of welcome and looks of devotion, to interact with more people, and to exchange more hugs (with those who welcome hugs).

Please pray with us for a blessed April!

Warmly in Christ,

Pastors Rob & Adele Langworthy
